Take measurements correctly

Please make sure to double-check everything to ensure that your Island Dogs collar or harness fits correctly.

SO PLEASE DO NOT MEASURE!

Under no circumstances measure the length or diameter of any of your existing collars!

Measure neck circumference

Place the measuring tape in the middle of the neck and measure so that you can still slide your little finger between the tape measure and the dog's neck.

If you don't have a flexible measuring tape, you can also measure with a string or a cable by wrapping it around the dog's neck and then laying it lengthwise next to a ruler or another measuring device.

How to take measurements for a harness

  1. Measure the lower neck circumference of your dog, taken all the way around.
  2. Measure the belly circumference of your dog (snugly).

We will calculate the measurements for the back and chest straps based on your measurements. However, you can still write down these measurements in the notes field of your order if you like.

If you're not sure where to place the measuring tape on the belly, you can refer to the following table.

Very small dogs: 6-7 cm from the shoulder blades backwards

Small dogs: 8-10 cm from the shoulder blades backwards

Medium-sized dogs: 10-12 cm from the shoulder blades backwards

Large dogs: 14-16 cm from the shoulder blades backwards
